Public identity and scope

Award records are available through searches by brand, model, award number or certificate number. Before a search there are no product lists, brand walls, recommendations or default results. Each record corresponds to an actual decision and identifies models, configurations, use, named jurisdictions, basis, validity and current status. “Other market” is not a final scope. Research and nominations are not awards.

Keep statistical populations separate

Use separate fields for research candidates, formal applications, distinct products, award events, renewals and currently valid records. Inclusion in third-party research is not an application or award and must not be converted into an awarded brand.

Definition of award rate

If an award rate is published, it is the number of award decisions divided by completed substantive award or non-award decisions in the stated period, with period, rules, scope and method identified. Pending, withdrawn, duplicate and procedurally closed matters are separate; initial applications, renewals and extensions are grouped distinctly. A zero denominator produces no percentage. This definition neither requires homepage statistics nor permits research totals to be treated as awards.

Historical imports

Before publishing statistics from genuine older files, check provenance, rights, scope, dates, status and duplication. An empty online record does not prove that no history exists, but research material or estimated figures must never be used to fabricate it.

Valid

The record is within its stated period and has not been suspended or revoked. The mark may be used within the licence. Validity covers only the listed models, configurations and destination markets.

Expired

Where the validity period ends without a continuation decision, current validity must no longer be claimed. The history remains searchable. Ordinary expiry does not itself mean that the product is unsafe.

Suspended

A record or licence may be temporarily restricted while an issue is clarified. State reasons and scope according to the actual decision. A review request does not automatically restore validity.

Revocation, withdrawal and replacement

Revocation cancels an award on the facts and under the procedure; withdrawal is the holder’s voluntary termination; replacement is succession by a later valid record. Retain their respective reasons, dates and linked history rather than merging them into an unclear status.

Decision, period and query information

The identifier connects the decision, public evidence and certificate, identifying models, markets and dates. An approved future continuation is distinct from current validity until it starts. Status reflects the actual period and subsequent decisions at the time of enquiry. Eight-language versions share identifiers, values, markets and status; interface language does not extend scope.

History and information rights

Material changes retain dates, reasons and links, including replacement certificates where relevant. Wording errors, overbroad statements and challenges to a party’s decision follow correction, misuse reporting or reconsideration respectively. Disclosure remains limited to verifying the recognition; personal and non-public evidence follows its own rules, and history does not justify indefinite disclosure of unrelated information.
