Radio, EMC and human exposure: ACMA requirements
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Transmitters, receivers and electrical/electronic products within the relevant ACMA rules, including radio modules fitted in another product.
Requirements
Separate radio technical performance, electromagnetic compatibility and electromagnetic energy requirements. Choose the EMC equipment-family standard that matches the primary function; use a generic route only where the official list allows it. Radio band, power and operating conditions also require the applicable spectrum permission.
Required Evidence
Keep test results, supplier declaration, compliance records and RCM evidence under the applicable risk and evidence level. A common RCM symbol does not merge ACMA and EESS obligations.
Comparison for the Awards
Lower emissions can only be compared against the correct limit and detector/bandwidth/setup. Product speed or range is not a substitute for radio compliance.
Version & Transition
Check current technical standards and their transition dates; old radio notices have been reorganised, while the EMC arrangements retain separate legal effect.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
