Safety footwear: protection matched to workplace risk
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
General-purpose safety footwear used as a workplace risk control; this is not a mandatory certification rule for every ordinary shoe or bag.
Requirements
Select protection for the actual impact, puncture, traction, temperature, chemical and electrical risks. The referenced safety-footwear standard contains basic and additional requirements; selection duties and product testing are separate.
Required Evidence
Provide the full footwear test report, material and construction specification, applicable category/marking and stated use limitations.
Comparison for the Awards
A protective class is meaningful only for its stated hazard. Extra protection must not be extrapolated to untested risks or described as a universal legal margin.
Version & Transition
Government PPE guidance identifies AS 2210.3:2019. Verify workplace and contractual acceptance separately; the standard is not automatically a general retail mandate.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
