CA · SOR/2016-311 Division 13; adopted plumbing codes
Plumbing products: federal water-use and local acceptance
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Covered faucets, showerheads and commercial pre-rinse spray valves; installation acceptance depends on province/territory and product.
Requirements
The consolidated federal regulation contains separate faucet and showerhead subdivisions in Division 13. Determine product, date and prescribed test before selecting any flow limit. Provincial/territorial adoption of plumbing codes, material and certification requirements must be checked separately.
Required Evidence
Fixture configuration, pressure/flow report, current federal clause/date, local adopted-code basis and applicable product certification.
Comparison for the Awards
A numerical comparison requires the verified product-specific current limit and identical pressure/method. The 2022 consultation bulletin is not that evidence.
Version & Transition
This record verifies the regulatory route, not a complete flow-limit table. The legacy NRCan showerhead bulletin is explicitly a proposal and must not be published as current law.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
