Wireless equipment: RSS and ISED certification
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Radio equipment under the applicable RSS; Wi-Fi/Bluetooth and other covered bands require technology-specific classification.
Requirements
Category I equipment needs the required certificate and REL listing, with recognised laboratory and certification-body scopes. RSS-Gen works with the specific RSS and RSS-102 exposure requirements; digital EMC and host integration may add requirements. Category II is not subject to the same certification route.
Required Evidence
REL/model identity, certification, complete RF/EMC/exposure reports, antenna/firmware and host configuration, required bilingual notices.
Comparison for the Awards
Compliance is the baseline. Compare unwanted emissions only under the same band/method; higher RF output is not automatically a quality advantage.
Version & Transition
RSS-Gen Issue 6 was published 30 July 2026, amended 15 September 2026, with a one-year transition accepting Issues 5/6. RSS-247 Issue 4 (24 July 2025) has Amendment 1 dated 8 October 2026.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
