Textiles and bedding: flame spread
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Textile-fibre consumer products and bedding; defined exclusions include tents, mattresses, children’s sleepwear and specified children’s articles.
Requirements
Non-raised textiles require flame-spread time greater than 3.5 seconds; raised surfaces with base-fibre ignition/fusion require greater than 4 seconds. Qualifying bedding requires greater than 7 seconds. Use the incorporated CAN/CGSB-4.2 No.27.5 method.
Required Evidence
Textile/bedding classification, surface structure, conditioning and replicate results, method edition and final-material identity.
Comparison for the Awards
Longer flame-spread time is comparable only within the same surface category and method. Special-product exclusions must be resolved first.
Version & Transition

Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
