Motor vehicle tires: safety and marking
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Motor-vehicle tires within the regulation; tire type and vehicle application select the applicable technical standard document.
Requirements
Apply the relevant dimensions, load ratings, endurance/high-speed or other specified tests and markings. Applicable TSDs and transition dates must be taken from Transport Canada rather than assuming every US tire document is interchangeable.
Required Evidence
Tire type/size, load/speed ratings, complete prescribed test records, manufacturing identification and conformity/import evidence.
Comparison for the Awards
Compare performance using the same tire class, load, inflation and test conditions; a DOT symbol alone is not a superiority result.
Version & Transition
Transport Canada’s current TSD page controls the version. This entry verifies the route, not every tire category’s numerical test schedule.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
