Wood-based panels: 2026 formaldehyde-emission standard
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Wood-based panels and their products for interior decoration/refurbishment within the standard's definitions. The finished furniture and installed building may have additional requirements.
Requirements
Identify panel/product type, surface treatment and applicable emission test and marking provisions. Use the actual 2025 edition's method and judgement; a supplier's old grade label cannot replace current test evidence.
Required Evidence
Provide material/batch identity, full emission report, specimen preparation and conditioning, surface/edge configuration and required limit information.
Comparison for the Awards
Compare the same method and specimen configuration. Results from chamber, desiccator or extraction methods are not numerically interchangeable.
Version & Transition
Effective 1 June 2026, replacing GB 18580-2017. The official system marks the 2017 edition as withdrawn.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
