JP · Radio Act; Ordinance on Technical Regulations Conformity Certification of Specified Radio Equipment
Radio equipment: technical conformity and design certification
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Specified radio equipment, including wireless modules used in connected consumer products, subject to the relevant equipment category and permitted operating conditions.
Requirements
Determine whether individual technical conformity certification or construction/design certification is used, and verify the exact radio type, frequency, power, antenna and production-control scope. Module approval must remain valid for the final integration conditions.
Required Evidence
Keep the certificate and official record, RF report, circuit/antenna configuration, labelling and evidence of the body's registration for the relevant category.
Comparison for the Awards
More transmit power is not inherently better performance against spectrum limits. Compare only an applicable technical criterion within the permitted operating envelope.
Version & Transition
The official ordinance has a 3 April 2026 revision record. Confirm the current category and applicable provisions rather than relying on a 2022 or 2023 exported text.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
