Electrical safety: certification, confirmation and supplier verification
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Electrical products listed under the applicable safety-management schedules. The risk category, product definition and electrical ratings determine the route.
Requirements
Safety certification, safety confirmation and supplier conformity verification have different procedures. Certification includes product testing and factory assessment; safety confirmation does not use the same periodic factory procedure. Select the product's KC safety standard and any particular part, not a generic 'KC certificate'.
Required Evidence
Provide the route classification, complete KC report, model/critical components, required certificate or report of confirmation and marking. Check the designated or contracted test body's actual product scope; KOLAS accreditation alone does not establish every statutory acceptance.
Comparison for the Awards
Completion of the KC procedure is a baseline. A claim above regulation requires an identified applicable criterion, not simply a higher product specification.
Version & Transition
The KATS page links contracted certification-test bodies as of April 2026 and safety-confirmation testing scopes as of October 2026. Use these current records with the exact standard's notice and transition.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
