KR · KATS leather-products safety standard under safety-standard compliance
Leather products: material-specific safety and information
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Leather goods within the KATS definition, including relevant wearable and carried products; children's scope and non-leather components must be assessed separately.
Requirements
Use the leather-product category requirements for the actual material, use and labelling. Do not substitute the ordinary textile standard or assume every bag is covered only by its external fabric.
Required Evidence
Provide construction/material breakdown, chemical reports for relevant components, supplier controls and final Korean information.
Comparison for the Awards
An additional wear-resistance claim is separate from the regulated chemical baseline; 'above regulation' needs a directly relevant criterion.
Version & Transition
KATS publishes the leather-product standard as a distinct category. Check the operative attachment and amendments for the intended product.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
