Lamps and controlgear: 2026 KC notices
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
The relevant lamp or controlgear category: fluorescent lamps, self-ballasted lamps and electronic controlgear must be distinguished from LED luminaires.
Requirements
Match the actual light source and controlgear to the listed KC standard and safety route. Lamp safety, performance and energy-efficiency requirements are separate matters.
Required Evidence
Keep complete product-specific safety reports, lamp/cap/controlgear identification and applicable certification or confirmation records.
Comparison for the Awards
Higher luminous output is not evidence of lower electrical risk or an efficiency surplus; compare the criterion applicable to the chosen regulatory claim.
Version & Transition
The KATS directory records KC 61199, KC 60968 and KC 61195 notices on 10 September 2026, and KC 61347-2-3 on 20 July 2026. Their scope must not be extrapolated to every lighting product.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
