Tents and outdoor-use articles: category safety requirements
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Tents within the KATS category; protective goggles, buoyancy equipment, helmets and other sports products must be classified through their own entries.
Requirements
Assess the actual tent construction, materials, intended use and required warnings against the tent standard. A camping claim does not make another outdoor product subject to the same tests.
Required Evidence
Provide the product configuration, material allocation, relevant full tests and Korean instructions/warnings.
Comparison for the Awards
Weatherproof or durability claims require their own validated method; they do not automatically establish a margin over every statutory safety duty.
Version & Transition
Use the current KATS tent attachment and subsequent notices; the safety-standard compliance route differs from a compulsory certification programme.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
