Industrial plant: design and item registration
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Industrial machinery, pressure equipment, lifting and other plant subject to the local work health and safety regime; registration applies only to specified designs/items.
Requirements
Identify design, supply and use duties and whether design registration, item registration or both apply. A design verifier's assessment and an item inspection are different steps; the local regulator controls acceptance.
Required Evidence
Provide the technical design basis, risk assessment, verification, test records, instructions and applicable registration records.
Comparison for the Awards
A conformity report cannot replace mandatory design/item registration. Above-requirement claims must identify a specific engineering criterion within the approved use.
Version & Transition
Safe Work Australia develops national policy and is not the approving regulator. Confirm the law adopted in the actual jurisdiction and current plant category.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
