Ecodesign and energy labels: GB and NI product measures
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Only the covered energy-related groups, such as refrigeration, washing, displays, light sources, motors and heating equipment. GB and NI may have different product measures, dates and label arrangements; identify the actual subtype and market before using a formula.
Requirements
Check the official product-legislation table for the exact GB assimilated measure or NI EU measure. Evaluate prescribed efficiency, functional performance, modes, resource-efficiency and information duties using their actual test method. For example, NI/EU local space heaters follow 2024/1103 from 1 July 2025 while GB retains 2015/1188 with a published enforcement easement, not a rewritten GB law.
Required Evidence
Provide complete measurement/calculation inputs, capacity/programmes, model variants, technical documentation, required UK/EU label and information sheet, declarations and applicable market registrations. Any enforcement easement relied on must match its exact product, dates and conditions.
Comparison for the Awards
Calculate margins against the actual jurisdiction-specific requirement, not a similarly named EU regulation. Verification tolerances are for enforcement verification and cannot inflate declared efficiency. A better label class does not establish unrelated quality superiority.
Version & Transition
The official ecodesign page was updated 8 April 2026, including tumble-dryer label/repairability easements. Retain these distinctions rather than publishing one universal UK energy table.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
