Children's products: common and product-specific safety
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Children's products assigned to safety certification, safety confirmation or supplier conformity verification, with toys, textiles, furniture and ride-on goods classified individually.
Requirements
Apply the children's common requirements and the product's own standard where required. Safety confirmation involves designated testing before shipment or customs clearance followed by the required filing; other routes cannot be assumed equivalent.
Required Evidence
Provide age/use classification, complete common and product-specific reports, model identity, designated test scope, filing/certificate and KC/warning artwork as applicable.
Comparison for the Awards
A common chemical test alone does not cover mechanical or age-related requirements. A comparative claim must identify the actual children's product criterion.
Version & Transition
Use the current KATS children's standard notices and procedure category. A product name containing 'children' does not identify the correct route by itself.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
