KR · KATS furniture and mattress standards; applicable safety-management category
Furniture and mattresses: distinct safety categories
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Furniture in the published category, which excludes household drawer units and office filing cabinets at or above the stated 762 mm height threshold; mattresses have a separate standard.
Requirements
Determine furniture type, height, intended user and material before selecting the procedure and standard. Use the separate route for excluded tall storage furniture rather than declaring it unregulated.
Required Evidence
Retain dimension/category assessment, material and relevant safety reports, stability/assembly information and required product labelling.
Comparison for the Awards
A material-emission result does not cover stability, entrapment or assembly safety. Comparisons must retain the actual furniture configuration.
Version & Transition
The KATS live index and individual furniture/mattress records must be used together. The 762 mm exclusion is a category boundary, not an award score.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
