Radio and digital equipment: FCC authorisation
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Connected cameras, smart locks, wireless controls and digital equipment, according to radio functions, frequency bands and equipment class.
Requirements
Identify the relevant Part 15 technical provisions and whether Certification or Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity applies. Intentional transmission, unintended emissions and RF exposure require separate assessment. A certified radio module does not remove host-integration conditions.
Required Evidence
Grant/FCC ID where required, complete RF/EMC reports, antenna/firmware configuration, RF-exposure assessment, labels and responsible-party information.
Comparison for the Awards
Certification is a baseline status. Lower unwanted emissions can be compared under the same band, detector, bandwidth and operating mode; greater transmitter power is not inherently better.
Version & Transition
Use the current eCFR and applicable KDB guidance, including transition dates and special device restrictions; this entry does not reproduce all RF limits.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
