EU · Directive 2014/30/EU
Electromagnetic compatibility of non-radio equipment
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Apparatus and fixed installations liable to cause electromagnetic disturbance or whose performance can be affected by it. Radio equipment normally addresses EMC through RED. Component status, inherently benign equipment and installation-only supply must be assessed.
Requirements
Equipment must limit emissions and possess sufficient immunity for its intended electromagnetic environment. Select domestic, industrial or product-specific emission and immunity methods, including ports, cable lengths, operating modes and performance criteria. A domestic limit cannot be substituted with a less demanding industrial class without justification.
Required Evidence
Provide complete conducted and radiated emissions and immunity reports, worst-case configurations, cable and peripheral details, photographs, essential performance criteria, technical file and EU declaration. Internal production control or the permitted EU-type-examination route is available; a notified body is not universally mandatory.
Comparison for the Awards
Lower emission levels or demonstrated immunity beyond an applicable test level can be evaluated only against the same frequency, detector, bandwidth, distance and acceptance criterion. One selected frequency cannot stand for the complete EMC result.
Version & Transition
Applicable since 20 April 2016. Check current EMC Official Journal references and any restrictions for the particular standard and test date.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
