Industrial safety helmets: structure, performance and type examination
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Industrial helmets used for the defined falling/flying-object and fall-impact hazards; distinguish the protection class from riding and sports helmets.
Requirements
Meet the relevant structural and performance requirements and obtain the required type examination by a registered body before the regulated use. The intended protection category governs which performance is applicable.
Required Evidence
Retain type-examination details, full model tests, materials, construction, protection category, marking and instructions.
Comparison for the Awards
A helmet tested for one hazard must not be presented as superior for another untested hazard. Any margin needs the applicable impact/penetration or other criterion.
Version & Transition
Use the amended legal standard and current registered-body records. The original 1975 date does not mean an unamended historic text is sufficient.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
