JP · Ministerial Ordinance on Structural and Material Standards for Water Supply Equipment; Notification No. 111 test methods
Water supply fittings: structure, materials and performance
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Pipes and fittings within the Water Supply Act's supply-equipment definition, including directly connected fittings. Installation and the local water supplier's requirements must also be checked.
Requirements
Select the relevant pressure resistance, leaching, water hammer, backflow, vacuum-breaking, cold resistance and durability requirements by product function. Not every fitting is subject to the same set. Conformity can be documented through the accepted route rather than assuming a single compulsory brand of certificate.
Required Evidence
Keep exact wetted materials and configuration, complete applicable test results, conformity basis and local installation information. The official conformity database identifies supplier-provided records and is not an independent guarantee of every entry.
Comparison for the Awards
A lower leaching result or greater durability must be compared with the applicable method and product category; a general drinking-water claim is insufficient.
Version & Transition
The current official water-law list records a 28 January 2026 amendment to Notification No. 111. Use the current MLIT/Ministry of the Environment sources following the transfer of responsibilities.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
