Drinking-water plumbing: lead-free composition
Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Product Scope
Non-exempt pipes, fittings and fixtures supplying water for human consumption; solder and flux have a separate threshold.
Requirements
Lead-free composition generally means a weighted average not exceeding 0.25% across wetted surfaces, and 0.2% for solder/flux. Required certification must come from the applicable accredited certification route. Composition is distinct from lead leaching.
Required Evidence
Wetted-material bill, area-weighted calculation, applicable accredited certification and listing, model/mark correspondence.
Comparison for the Awards
Lower composition lead may establish a specific margin; it does not prove better leaching performance or approval under every local plumbing code.
Version & Transition
Apply exemptions and the current certification provisions. Do not present a voluntary leaching certificate as the statutory composition requirement itself.
Official Sources
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
