Identify the market and product category first. Each dossier separates legal duties, referenced standards, evidence and the comparison needed for an award.
Regulatory Basis
EU · Regulation (EU) 2023/988
General consumer-product safety and traceability
Consumer products, including products reasonably likely to be used by consumers. The general safety requirement covers risks not already addressed by specific Union harmonisation legislation; industrial-only equipment and excluded sectors require separate classification.
Chemical restrictions in materials and finished articles
Chemical substances, mixtures and finished articles trigger different duties. For textiles, footwear, toys, furniture, plastics, coatings and industrial materials, identify each actual substance, material, contact condition and use before assigning a restriction.
Construction products: declared performance and technical specifications
Products intended for permanent incorporation in construction works where performance affects the relevant basic requirements. Identify the product family, intended use, cited harmonised technical specification or European Technical Assessment and actual Member State installation requirements.
EU · REACH Annex XVII entry 77; Regulation (EU) 2023/1464
Formaldehyde emissions from furniture and articles
Articles releasing formaldehyde to indoor air, subject to the entry’s exclusions. Furniture and wood-based articles have a distinct limit; road-vehicle interiors have a later date. Natural formaldehyde sources and articles covered by exclusions must not be assigned a limit without checking their legal conditions.
EU · Directive (EU) 2020/2184 Article 11; 2024/367, 2024/368, 2024/370
Materials and products in contact with drinking water
Products and final materials contacting water intended for human consumption, including relevant pipes, fittings, storage and treatment components. Distinguish drinking-water hygiene from structural, hydraulic, electrical and food-contact rules.
Chemical classification, hazard labels and packaging
Chemical substances and mixtures placed on the market, including applicable paints, adhesives, sealants and household chemicals. Finished articles generally do not follow every mixture-labelling duty; special product regimes and exemptions need checking.
Applicability depends on the product classification, intended use, configuration and actual sales territory. Manufacturing, placing-on-the-market and testing dates, together with transition provisions, are checked as required by each applicable rule. The directory identifies sources; it does not replace assessment of the specific model. Standards are identified by reference, and their authoritative texts remain with the issuing bodies. Official source documents retain their original language.
