Retaining originals and translations

Submit and retain the non-English original and complete English translation separately, linking report numbers, versions, pages, tables and annexes. English is the review working language; it does not displace original data or limitations. Differences must be checked and corrected against the source, not resolved by selecting a favourable wording or overwriting the original.

Technical cross-check

Check standard titles and numbers, models, test conditions, values, signs, decimals, units, detection limits and restrictions. Confirmation of a translation is not technical accreditation or official acceptance.

Responsibility and revisions

Identify the translator or organisation, completion date and statement of responsibility. For revisions, identify changes and reasons and retain earlier versions. Other certificate languages do not replace English verification documents.

Complete English coverage

Evidence necessary for a decision must be available in complete English, including the body, tables, captions, annexes, limitations, adverse results and revisions, not merely the cover and conclusion. English originals need no duplicate English translation. Bilingual documents are still checked for completeness. Translation cannot expand the models, work, markets or legal effect of the original report.

Identifiable translation responsibility

Identify the translator or translation body, completion date, responsibility statement and corresponding original version and pages. Revisions specify changes and reasons and retain both versions. Translation responsibility establishes provenance; it does not establish laboratory qualification, regulatory acceptance or approval of the technical results.

Check technical expressions item by item

Do not change standard numbers, models, values, decimal points, units, detection limits or conformity findings. Translation does not alter the original report’s validity, scope or technical conclusions.

Check bilingual reports as well

Complete missing English content, conflicts with the original and absent attachments. Other-language certificates and public explanations do not replace English verification evidence.

Differences, omissions and corrections

Identify and correct terminology, signs, values, units, limit direction, page references and annex discrepancies at their corresponding locations. Unclear technical meaning requires checking the original report and method, not only editing language. Corrected translations remain linked to affected comparisons, explanations or certificates, with the earlier version retained.

Review and publication languages

English review evidence and eight-language public explanations serve different purposes. Public explanations follow the actual decision and preserve model identifiers, standards references, values, units and report citations. An English default interface does not make English automatically controlling for every legal document or change the case market or evidence conditions when another language is used.
